文字稿
Hi! I’m Roy, and today I’m going to tell you the difference between two words that are often confused: hear and listen.
Hear is the verb we use to talk about the ability. It doesn’t mean that we want to hear something. It’s about sounds coming to our ears.
I can hear the air conditioning. It doesn’t mean that I want to hear it, but I can.
The verb listen is often followed by the preposition ‘to’. We use this verb when we’re paying attention or focusing on sounds.
I hope you’re listening to me. That means I hope you’re paying attention.
Compare these two sentences:
I can hear some music (somewhere).
I am listening to some music. I’m listening to a song that I want to listen to.
Anyway, I’ve got to go. I can hear my boss calling me.
用法總結
1. 動詞 「hear」 描述的是 「可以聽到」 的能力,表示聲音進入耳朵是無意識的動作,與這個人的意願無關。
- I can hear the air conditioning.
- I can hear my boss calling me.
- He heard something and woke up.
2. 動詞 「listen」 強調有意識的 「去聽,注意聽」,或 「傾聽」,後常接介詞 「to」。
- I hope you’re listening to me.
- Listen! Who’s there?
- You should listen to your parents.
3. 對比下面兩個句子,記憶 「hear」 和 「listen」 的含義和用法。

- I am listening to some music. (我在聽我想聽的音樂)
